Obiit autem Olymp. 106. an. 4. cum Cariae 24. ann. praefuisset. Adhaec sepulchrum eidem sumptuossissimum exstruxit, quod a nomine eius Mausoleum est appellatum, ob operis magnificentiam, inter 7. Orbis miracula numeratum, â quo omnia pretiosa sepulchra Mausolea dicuntur. Unde Sueton. sepulchrum Caesarum appellavit Mausoleum. Sic enim ille in Vespasiano c. 23. Cum inter prodigia cetera Mausoleum Caesarum derepente patuisset. Florus l. 4. c. 11.
